Private Pool, Hot Tub, and Spa Permit Reminder for 2026
Residents planning to install a private swimming pool, hot tub, or spa deeper than 24 inches must obtain a permit from the City of Holstein before filling the unit with water.
Permits are required but available at no charge and can be obtained at City Hall. An inspection appointment with the City Administrator is required prior to filling the pool to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
Safety requirements include:
- A fence or barrier at least 48 inches high
- A self-closing, self-latching gate with the latch positioned below 54 inches
These requirements follow IPMC Section 303 safety standards. Non-compliance may result in a municipal infraction with fines up to $750.
