📐 Board of Adjustment
The Board of Adjustment is a quasi-judicial body that:
- Hears appeals regarding zoning enforcement decisions
- Reviews and approves special exceptions to the zoning ordinance
- Grants variances in cases where literal enforcement of the zoning law would cause unnecessary hardship, while upholding the spirit of the ordinance and public interest
⚰️ Cemetery Board
Responsible for overseeing and maintaining the Holstein Cemetery. The board ensures that cemetery grounds are preserved with dignity and respect.
🎉 Centennial Commission
Formed to manage the funds generated from Holstein’s Centennial celebration.
- Deposits and invests net proceeds
- Determines appropriate expenditures for legacy and commemorative projects
🛍️ Holstein Chamber of Commerce
The Chamber unites local business and professional leaders to:
- Promote business and community partnerships
- Support events like Kinderfest and the Pumpkin Parade
- Beautify downtown (e.g., planters)
- Welcome new residents and businesses with hospitality initiatives
🏗️ Holstein Development Authority
Dedicated to fostering growth and maintaining Holstein’s quality of life, this board:
- Coordinates development initiatives
- Supports residential, commercial, and economic projects
- Advocates for sustainable community expansion
📚 Library Board
Oversees all aspects of Stubbs Memorial Library, including:
- Hiring and management of the Library Director and staff
- Budget oversight
- Approval of book and material purchases
- Policy development for effective library service
🗺️ Planning & Zoning Commission
This commission is appointed by the City Council to:
- Develop and recommend zoning ordinances
- Review zoning map amendments
- Maintain Holstein’s comprehensive land-use plan
- Advise on long-term development strategy and land use
⚽ Recreation Board
Serves as an advisory body to the City Council regarding the Recreation Department.
Responsibilities include:
- Recommending policies, rules, and fees
- Reviewing department budgets and programming
- Supporting development of recreational facilities and services
